Question:I'm a third year college student taking up biology and i want to pursue a career in medicine. of course, like anyone, i want to get into a good and respectable school... an established institution, if you may (think: UST, UP-PGH, St. Lukes and ASMPH). but, also, education in these prestige schools come with a price that not all can afford. does anyone know where to ask for scholarships (both from the private and public sector/ government)? what are the requirements for these grants? who can i contact if I'm interested in availing/ applying for one? :)
thanks in advance. :)

hi.
i graduated with a pre-med degree. i wanted to pursue med school and wrote to different foundations (literally straight from the yellow pages); some responded. So im suggesting you do the same; with the advent of internet, it might be easier.
Anyway, as I recall, the foundations who wrote back were: Metrobank, phil-chi chamber of commerce, BPI (some I forgot). some even wrote to say they dont have scholarships etc and wished me good luck.
the foundations/companies were chosen randomly on my part. I remmber the replies had criterias/requirements attached already.
i did not pursue med school, but am enjoying my job in pharma sales.
if you really want to go to med school, go for it. just be aggressive in pursuing the scholarships. spend stamp money/time online.
good luck!
