If I took out a Stafford Loan could that knock me out of getting a work study job?

Question:

Answers:
Yes and no...Work study and SUBSIDIZED LOANS (Stafford and Perkins) are considered need based loans. If you have been packaged up to your financial need (including your workstudy) then requesting your sub loan may make you ineligible for workstudy.

UNSUBSIDIZED loans are NOT counted as need based aid but count towards the total cost of attendance. If you are packaged to need but not to cost, you may have unsub loans up to the cost of attendance less all other financial aid.

You need to meet with the financial aid office to determine your best options. It MAY impact your eligibility for workstudy depending on the aforementioned.
