Question:I just did my fafsa online and it told me my EFC is $9,317!! My gross income from last year was only $29,694. Since I am a working adult they did not ask me for my parent’s information. I plan on going back to school and taking night classes. I need financial aid because the $29,694 that I make a year goes toward rent, car payment, car insurance, food, gas money, etc.! I cannot afford to put aside 30% of my income for tuition! The program that I am enrolling in will be about $11,000 total over the next year and a half with me going part-time. I was very excited about going back to school but now I am worried that I just won’t be able to afford it. Am I wrong, or does this EFC seem crazy?!

That seems pretty high. I would talk to the Financial Aid office at your school and see if this could be an error.
Mine was ridiculous too. Mine was 1266 but the amount for tuition at my school (a community college) is $468 a semester!
But, the federal EFC is a little different from the EFC at school. Your school's financial aid office has it's own calucations that will help you out a little more.
