Nobody in her family can co-sign for her. I can not do it becuase I also do not have enough credit established (And godforbid she couldnt pay it - i can not afford to pay it)...
She paid for her 1st semester classes out of her own pocket. She has applied for federal help but has been denied because her mother makes too much money (too much money, but they live paycheck to paycheck and can hardly make ends meet)
She wants to break the cycle that her family has been in, and she does not want to struggle through her whole life. She wants to go to school for radiology.
What advice can you give? What can she do about a loan?
Answers:
To apply for a student loan you do not need a job nor good credit. You just have to have not defaulted on a prior student loan. Your friend is providing you inaccurate info, it just may be that she herself is not getting the correct info. I am going to need you not to be so gullible, thou. Please do not co-sign on the loan. Otherwise, if you think your credit is bad now, you just wait. She does not need a cosigner. The government backs those loans so that everyone has an opportunity to go to school. The loan is made, with the intent that the student at some future time, will be able to pay the loan. If you want to help your friend, please tell her to visit her student loan office at her school at have them help her to fill out the loan papers.
Moreover, the less the income the better. She may qualify for a grant, which she never has to pay back. But she will not know until she fills out and completes those Financial aid forms.
I found interesting information about your answer, college loans, scholarships, college grants & partime works here.

Good luck!
She needs to go to the financial aid office and apply for loans through the school. You can also find links on your schools website. I assume she has her FASFA filled out? Her award package from the school will tell her how much in subsidized and unsubsidized loans she can apply for. These loans the government for lack of better a term would be the cosigner. If she needs help filling out any of the forms the financial aid department can help.

Students who are looking for a bad credit student loan should pick three schools they are most interested in, talk to the admissions office, and ask what is needed to apply in their school.A bad credit<!--student loan is payable only after the student has completed his or her education, and has started earning a certain minimum amount. You can find more information Student Loan here,

The minimum amount that the candidate of the bad credit student loan is required to earn has also increased. Bad credit student loans are available as both secured and unsecured loans-->depending on whether you are a homeowner or not. The rate of interest to be paid on unsecured bad credit student loans is higher than that on secured bad credit student loans. This is because the secured bad credit student loans are backed by your home as a security.
