You should be able to qualify for financial aid. This is different than a loan, though you can check out what's available for you with student loans, as well. Contact your school's financial aid department and get specifics on what you need to do. Financial aid is something you don't have to pay back. Loans, you do.
The other option (if you qualify) is scholarship. Are there any you qualify for? There are a TON of scholarships out there. Talk with your current school counselor to find out what's available to you in your state and in the state your college is in.
Peruse the website below. It's got a ton of info for people just like you. Good luck!
Link 2 is specific to scholarships that are available. It requires some personal info.
Link 3 lists all types of financial aid (other than loans) that are available to you (i.e. federal aid, grants, etc.) .
P.S. When you start researching, it's going to seem overwhelming because there is SO much out there! And it's going to require you to fill out a lot of paperwork. But don't get discouraged. Organize your research and keep notes, that way you won't have to repeat your searches or try to recall "that one option...which dept. was I suppose to contact?" Don't lose hope! Education is extremely important and you'll be so glad you did your homework here. When you are able to go to school and not have to worry about major debt on the other side of graduation, you'll look back on this time and the process...the effort will be soooooo worth it!
P.P.S. You're my 1,000th answer!!
