Question:When I received my award letter I declined the Subsidized Stafford Loan but I now want to accept it. I informed my school and they told me that they were going to process my request and that in the meantime I had to complete the e-MPN (electronic Master Promissory Note). If I do this, will HESC automatically know that I want the subsidized loan, which I qualify for, or will they assume I want the unsubsidized loan, since I declined the subsidized loan originally? And after I sign the e-MPN, what's next? What do I do? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

The school is required to process your eligibility for a subsidized Stafford loan before they can process your eligibility for an unsubsidized Stafford loan. They will then forward this information along with your MPN to HESC on your behalf. HESC will then disburse the loan funds to the school based on the school's disbursement schedule. The funds will post to your institutional charges (tuition and fees, etc.). Then, if anything is leftover, the school will issue you a refund check.
