Does anyone have any tips/tricks for expiditing a disability application?

Question:My son went through a really bad time for the latter part of last year healthwise. His illness left him worse than legally blind. He still has some eyesight but not very much. Anyhow, work has been slow since my son was in the hospital and I eventually left the job to pursue school full time.(The company I was working for was doing a bunch of lay-offs anyway.) We applied for disability in November, did a phone interview in Dec. and here it is almost April and nothing has happened. All I keep on getting from the people is something about the app being "on hold" HELP!

Answers:
Confirm that all pieces are needed for them to process the claim. The first thing you want to do is speak to the disability office and confirm the received your forms and your doctors forms. Doctors offices are notorious for telling their patients "It was done" when it wasn't. Without medical, claims will eventually close and if it's been about 6 months, I would try to followup and make sure they have all the info they need and get the person's name of who answers.
