I default on a Perkins loan, do I still qualify for a deferment or forebearance?

Hi,

I just open a letter stating I own defaulted on my Perkins loan. I enjoy moved 3 times within days gone by year so I guess I just lost track.

The problem is I am enrol at a new college for this spring and know I cannot go and get financial aid with a loan contained by default. I enjoy read that rehabilitation takes 6-12 months back you can get aid again.

My husband say I can apply for a forbearance or a deferment (especially since I am going back to school).

Can anyone back me because if I cannot get aid to minister to pay my tuition I cannot afford to walk back to college this semester. I'm very worried.

Thanks!!

Answers:    Once you've default, you cannot go into forbearance. You may be capable of explain the situation to your loan company (with proof of your moving). That may help, but if, there you'll hold to sit out a semester or two.

Good luck.
Once you are in failure to pay you are not eligible for forbearance or a deferment. You will not be eligible to get further fin aid until you stir through the rehabilitation process.
sorry.
