For a FAFSA loan, is there a requirement that the student maintain at least half-time enrollment (6 hours)?

Question:My loan is unsubsidized.

Answers:
Good for you for checking up on this at the beginning of the year!

All federal loans require that you maintain at least half time status to stay out of your grace period-repayment stage. Check with your university to make sure the amount of credits you plan on taking qualifies you for this status. If you were to go under half time, your loans would enter their grace period, which is six months for Stafford Loans and nine months for Perkins Loans.

Once you have used up your grace period, you will not be granted another one. This means when you return to school and reach graduation, your may enter repayment directly after.

i'm not positive, but i believe you have to be at least full-time. so that means you can have the min amount of credits to be full-time and get the loan with out penalty.
2.0 GPA.

Good Luck!!

I obtained these website from my community college in which I attend. If you start paying your student loan while in school you can claim it on your taxes. Also I pays towards the interest. Right now interest rates are 6.8% fixed.

I wish you the best.
