Financial Aid is based on :
cost of the school you're attending
fulltime vs part-time
housing costs
EFC
So the award for an EFC =0.00 will vary from school to school and person to person
my efc is 0 and i received full coverage. i got 16,000 for the whole year, but thats because im living on campus too. but im not a single parent.
I've been reading about financial aid and loans lately however, I still don't get it.
I think you left out a lot of gaps to be able to answer this completely.
If you don't like with your parents and don't receive support who do you live with and or do you pay anything? Is your EFC of 0.00 what your FAFSA says or are you saying they actually don't contribute? You didn't say anything as to whether or not you work and what you earn.
So, to answer your question about guessing how much you receive I would guess NOT MUCH around $1000 but hopefully its more. Don't forget to come back and give us the answer. GOOD LUCK and don't give up!
It all really depends on what your financial situation is. I received enough to cover all my tuition for this year. So, if that is the case, congrats.
If I had to guess I would say 3,000 to 4,000.
My EFC was 0 also. My first year of school everything was paid for without me having to take out any loans. My second and now my third year I had to take out a loan. I reduced the loans by a couple of thousand dollars and was still able to go to school. Different schools use the EFC differently. So just because you have 0 for an EFC doesn't mean you should expect not to have to pay anything. Contact your school's financial aid department and they will be able to talk to you.
