I'm a 44 year old single father of 3 boys, with a mortgage. Is it still possible to go to med school?

Question:I was never able to follow my dream of becoming a doctor, but I still have this great desire to do so. However being 44 and a single father of 3 boys with a mortgage, my dream seems to be coming more and more distant. Is it theoretically possible to get loans to pay for "everything"? I'm told that if there is a will, there is a way! I just need to find the "way"

Answers:
Anything is possible if you set your mind to it! Good luck! Also, there are always some loan offices out there that are always willing you give you money.
I hired a physician last summer who went to Med School at U of Michigan at 42 years old...

The odd thing his daughter graduated with him from med school
As long as you have that desire to do it and you think it's what you were truly meant to do in your lifetime then don't let anything stop you. There is always a way for you to get what you want, it's just the matter of giving up something. Whether it's watching television while you could work more hours and get the money to pay for mortage. Just follow your dream.
Well, you can. The thing is, you have to be sure that you and your family is financially stable. Like, what if you go into med school and your whole family would be in serious debt...? That's just wrong, I think. I don't know. But I think you can apply for bursaries, scholarships, and student loans.
Apply for student loans, grants, scholarships, etc. Make sure your boys are well taken care of and go for your dream. You can do the research and have the financial aid lined up before jumping into anything.
Of course you can and should. You will probably get tons of financial aid because you have three children. I'm 39 and a single mom (one daughter), I get all my school paid for. Good luck!
YES! You can do it! Apply for grants and scholarships and see what kind of help you can get there. To be honest, you could probably get close to a full ride because you are a single parent. After you see what kind of grants you can get, apply for student loans to pay for the rest! I hope you go for it, and good luck!!
Wow, to tell you honestly, the chances tha you can get through med school with a mortgage and 3 kids is going to be difficult. I recommend pharmacy school.

There ar emany advantages to this great profession.

1) most jobs are 9-5

2) starting salary is 75-150k depending on location and need

3) you'll still get to practice medicine

4)you wear awhite coat

Of course you can!! It's never too late. Set realistic goals and think of your kids age at that time in your college education. Depending if you have your bachelor's degree already, fears about your kids needing your support may be a non issue.
Good Luck!!
Yes you can follow your dream, a you can always apply for grants( free money) and loans
