Are there grants to help students with housing?

Question:I work a full time job, doing something I do not want to do. Is there a grant that will help with housing so I can finish school faster and begin the career I DO want to do?

Answers:
I don't believe there are grants specifically designed to cover housing costs. That said, there are billions of dollars available every year in legitimate scholarships / grants which help students cover 'education expenses' broadly defined, which would include housing. I'd encourage you to search through the legitimate scholarship search sites first - www.fastweb.com and/or www.scholarships.com.

If you can't find free money (the best kind), you might want to consider a private loan. There are some private loan companies that will send the money directly to you, which effectively allows you to use it for whatever you'd like. If you can indeed finish school much faster by giving up your job, it might save you money in the long-term to give up the job and borrow from a private loan program. And there are some studies that show studnets perform better in school if they do NOT have a job while studying. Something to think about.

If you're interested in a private loan option, there are a couple options, including www.thinkfinancial.com and www.astrive.com.
