Unsubsidized Stafford Loans?

Question:Can I still get an unsubsidized Stafford loan if I only have a Subsidized Stafford Loan? If so , How?

Answers:
It depends on whether you are a Dependent or Independent student as well as how much of a Subsidized loan you have already have been awarded, or if you are a graduate student.

If you are an undergraduate Dependent student, you have loan limits based on your grade level: $3500 for freshmen, $4500 for sophomore and $5500 for junior/senior. Say you are a freshmen and you are only eligible for $2000 of a Subsidized loan, then you could get up to an additional $1500 in Unsubsidized.

If you are an undergraduate Independent student, you are eligible for the loan amounts above, plus an additional $4000 for freshmen/sophomore and $5000 for junior/senior.

You can see more information regarding loans at www.finaid.org/loans. You will also want to talk to a financial aid officer for more information/guidance.

Good luck!
yes you can. You need to go to your school's financial aid office and fill out a form requesting the loan.
