I had a full year "stuck" on my dissertation, and it took deeply of encouragement by my advisors (and my partner) for me to get everything done. That be years ago, and now I direct a graduate program myself, and do everything I can to sustain my grad students finish.

Maybe he doesn't want to. Why are you pushing him? You are not his wife or mother, and even if you were, if doesn't want a PhD, consequently he shouldn't have to catch one.
does he terror success? relay him to finish and go into principle at the college level. it's excellent: honest pay, great hours, numerous "perks", and a multitude of other benefits. crack the lash upon this slacker!
Well, I don't know....not a soul knows unless you specify exactly what the problem is. He may quality overcome by other things in your/his go. But this question to me sounds approaching a friend of mines problem.... His girlfriend became a student and kept going and going...she never WANTED to graduate or find a career...that's a scary current area of life span, life is different surrounded by school. She could hold gone to school forever...but facing her PhD...be the end rank. He needs to plan into and PAST his phD. Ask him what he plans on doing after he former students...it'll probably bring up negativity, the unknown or a fight. Be calm, he may be just going into unknown kingdom.
About 50% of ppl who start their PhD's never finish..so its not a biggie
Men need a push to finish the amount. No, not a push off a stepladder or a bridge - a gentle "nudge" roughly how much better his job will be, better pay packet chances, etc. - or what a event you'll have - or how he can lord it over his elevated school classmates - anything works! Good luck, been at hand, done that. And my guy finished, although about 9-10 months after I did.
He can always put ABD on his resume.
