Soil is formed from weathering.
Weathering is the breaking down of rocks into small fragments.Lets say rocks are very close together due to the changes in temperature cold to hot and then hot to cold they(the rocks' external and internal forces cause it to expand and contract ).after prolonged expansions and contractions ,cracks appear and the rocks disintergrate gradually and they form soil .
