Question:I want to go to the University of Illinois (Urbana/Champaign) But getting in seems very competitive.. I am an A and B student but I don't think it will cut it. Are there any sure fire ways to impress with my college application? I am a sophmore in highschool so I think I have a little over a year. What can I do to have the university accept me?

Get a great score on your ACT or SAT, write a great essay, have great recommendations from your teachers, counslors, and community (preachers, shelters,and etc..) volunteer at things and if your good at a sport mention it or have any musical talent.
just grades arent enough. you need a good SAT and join clubs. get active

SAT and/or or ACT scores, recommendation letters, essays, community service, extra extracurriculars will help out big time.
Work harder and get your grades up to mostly A's. Don't look for short cuts like extracurriculars. Grades and test scores are far more important, especially at big state schools.
