Are college applications good for one year?

Question:I was told when you apply for college, they keep your application on file for one year, and that application would still be good for up to one year from the time you originally wanted to enroll. Would this still be true if you denied a college? Would they still have your application on file nonetheless or would they have discarded it?

Answers:
It would really depend on the individual college. The university that I work at keeps applications for 2 years if the student does not attend. Technically a college is not required to keep an application if a student does not attend. Only if the applicant becomes a student by registering for coursework are they required to keep the records for at least seven years according to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Keep in mind that if you paid an application fee, you will most likely be required to pay the application fee again if the college is willing to consider your application for a subsequent semester.

Best wishes!
. I do NOT think a reputable institution would say one thing, of little consequence, and do another.
And if they did, how would you know?
Ya just gotta trust people sometimes.
.. but just to be sure, RE-apply. wont't cost nothing.
