Question:Many universities award degrees in theology, including bachelor's, master's and even doctor's of theology and divinity--but this area of study is completely unprovable and entirely speculative. How can a Doctor of Divinity possibly be on the same par as a Ph.D. or even an M.B.A.? Your *real* Doctor of Medicine has infinitely more *factual* data in his education that your Doctor of Theology. Aren't religious degrees a joke?
Answers:
The important thing about graduate programs is not dumping facts into your brain--that's what K-12 and some of undergrad is for--but rather teaching you to think in the manner required by your chosen discipline. Therefore, the Doctor of Divinity provides advanced training in thinking as a theologian.
Maybe it's like a literature degree but in just one book. Like getting a PhD in Hamlet, something like that.
Theology is the study of Religion.
Religion is definately KNOWABLE
Now, EVOLUTION is iffy
Maybe they shouldn't give that one a degree (most don't )
