i know that it sounds really difficult to make friends but when you walk in the door just act normal. you dont have to talk to anyone when you first walk in but when you get to your first class or two if you have assigned seats tell someone around you who looks nice that you like something they are wearing. if there is a girl beside you and she has really cool earrings say "hey, i really like your earrings! where did you get them!" and normally they will say something to you, if not try again on someone else. dont be afraid to ask someone around you questions! if you are in class and you have a question and you dont want to interrupt the teacher if she is talking, very queitly ask your neighbor! hopefully they will be nice and helpful:) for lunch i would suggest trying to make a friend in your class you have lunch period with or someone that will be with you at lunch like the class before lunch. then either walk with them to lunch or ask if they wouldnt mind if you sat with them and their friends at lunch. that way you can meet more people at once:) good luck i hope this was helpful:)
Try to make friends in your classes and then hang out with them at lunch. Just remember that a lot of other people are shy as well.

Do not talk to someone when the teacher is speaking. For one thing, you'll get in trouble and the person you are speaking to is probably more interested in what the teacher is saying than what you are saying.
Just go with the flow! Watch-Listen-Learn! Be polite and curtious to others and you'll be rewarded, if not they are not worth your time. Find someone who seems friendly and introduce yourself, I'm sure they will be responsive in a friendly manner.
Do not let it get the best of you. This will be behind you be for you know it. You'll find someone or someone will find you.

I was the new kid in high school twice. I know how scary it is. I would just start talking to people around me in class and eventually I made some good friends. It may not happen the first day, but usually there is someone willing to take the new kid under his or her wing so to speak. Just relax and be yourself and you will find friends.
