Sorry, but media studies is the new sociology.
These are both subjects that have been used for years by schools and colleges to make their 'pass' figures look better.
They have no worth in terms of useful employment and are a dupe to hard working students.
I know I will be hated for saying it.but you are all being fooled by the politicians, the schools, the teachers...and yourselves.
I think this is determined by a) the university you are going to and b) the subject you are planning to teach. As an English teacher, I have done an AS Media Studies and it has helped me with my career, as the two subjects are usually taught by the English department. If however you want to specialise in another subject, it won't help you on any university course. Think strongly about what use you will find in the knowledge you gain from the Media Studies course. Is it going to help in that eventual career?
