Does what high school one goes to matter that much in the long run?

Question:I go to a highly acclaimed and awarded, but public, high school. I have a friend that goes to an incredibly highly acclaimed private school. Now, I plan to go to Stanford University, and I was wondering if me going to a public school would decrease my chances of acceptance into college, and later into a good job?

Answers:
I think it will be the grades that will get you accepted into college, not the school you attend, but since you already know what college you want to attend it would not hurt to call them up and ask the admission office.
