I was wondering if you guys would be able to either dispell these notions, or give me alternative career paths that I might want to consider?
I would also like to ask if anyone knows the average salary of an english professor and how it ranks up with other professors in different subjects?
p.s. bare in mind that I am asking for career paths that I can go down with a PhD in english literature, not for generic careers for someone just interested in the subject of english in general with no specific academic credential in mind.
Answers:
Ever looked at careers in book editing? That would require a thorough command over the English Language, one reason why PhD in English Literature or Linguistics are preferred. You should find the pay scales to be quite competitive and it would keep increasing as you gain more experience on the job.
