How much time should be devoted to the job search?

Question:Hello, I will be graduating from college in December of this year, I have a part time job right now but want a career in my field when I graduate...My question is how far in advance in time do people look for their career jobs so that they'll have something when they graduate? Is it one year, six months, etc..?

thanx

Answers:
It really depends on what your field is. Some jobs can take months of screening and interviews; with others, the whole process can take two weeks. I'd go talk to the people in your college career center and see if they can help you put together a realistic timeline.
