I really like a topic i studied at AS, but not included at uni. should i refer to in personal statement?

Question:i want to do psychology at uni, and during A levels found parapsychology very intresting.

The problem is that you are meant to include areas you enjoy studing in the personal statement, but they never do parapsychology at uni.

Also.. i can name-drop derren brown who went to bristol.. so may be more liked at bristol lol

Answers:
I'd definatly say about parapsychology, but go on to say how this interest will link in with the degree, with parapsychology that might be a bit difficult though as parts are a bit controversial, so id just use it as an example of how you just generally have a great interest in psychology as a whole.

I definatly wouldnt name drop, It would hinder your application rather than help, especially if they dont like derren brown (theyd have to be mad not to though, the mans a genius! :-)
Definately mention that you enjoyed that area, admissions ppl are looking for evidence that you're enthusiastic about the subject which means you're more likel to stick with it as a degree and not drop out. If you're interested in a related subject to the one you're applying for this just goes to show you'd be very interested in it at degree level. Umm maybe not mention Derren Brown, some academic ppl at uni might just dismiss him as a popular media figure and not someone to be taken seriously so might be best to leave him out.
yes they do! a few years ago i wanted to do the same thing so i asked a uni at a careers open day at my school. i think it is edinburough university that does it, it is the only one in the country. you need to take psycology at undergraduate and then specialise in parapsyc. in a graduate course.
