Can you major in interior designing at a UC then go to a designing school?

Question:is that even neccessary? what are the benefits of going to a designing school after UC?

Answers:
If you attend a university with a respected program in interior design, there is no reason to then attend a design school, unless you are seeking a master's degree.

After getting an undergraduate degree from the university, and even while studying there, seek out internships, build networks and investigate good job opportunities. Design is a professional field where even the best educational programs can only teach you so much--you need to get out into the field and gain experience on the job.

Design is not an area that requires or expects a masters degree unless you want to teach, then an MFA will be required. It's still a good idea to have at least a couple years professional experience before going to graduate school if you decide to do that.
I would suggest doing it the other way around. Go to a design school that allows you to use the credits towards your major and good luck finding a decent one for under $80,000.00. FYI: Academy of Art in San Francisco offers a terrific curriculum... check them out!
