Whats a good college for me to check out?

Question:I'm going into my senior year, and I just really don't know where to begin looking for colleges. I have an unweighted 3.73 GPA out of 4, and a weighted 3.82. I've only taken a couple honors classes throughout high school (Chemistry and Math 9) and no APs, but I'm going to be taking two APs my senior year (Economics and Psychology). I've taken the ACTs once so far and scored a 29 Composite with a 9 out of 12 on the writing, and I hope to bring that up to at least a 30 on my second go-around. I'm a pretty rounded student as I have been on missions trips to 3 different countries over the past 4 years, helping to build homes for poverty stricken people and help AIDS patients etc... I am very involved in my school's music program (4 years of marching band, drumline, pep band, jazz band, percussion ensemble etc...) and have had many acheivments in the area of music. Although I don't want to study music in college, I wan't to find a school with a good music scene, as i love to perform. Help!!

Answers:
Most college campuses have a good music scene.

You probably need to make a mental list of things that are important to you:
- close to home or not?
- big or small school?
- possible majors?
- cost? (in-state vs. out-state vs. private?)

If you have no idea where to begin, maybe do a campus visit at a big and small school, and see which one appeals to you more.
A lot of that depends on where you want to go and how far from home you're willing to attend. With your ACT score, GPA, and other activities, you shouldn't have a problem getting in just about anywhere. A good place to do some research is the Princeton Review. Good luck.
I think you need to answer a couple other questions before looking for the music scene at a university.

1) How much can you/your family afford, becuase anything thats outside the price range should be thrown out the window right now.

2) Do you want to go to a big school or a small school. They are incredibly different: 13th grade, knowing everyone, limited social opportunities vs. being a number, meeting new people every day, with social clubs out the ying yang.

3) How far away from home do you want to be? 1 hour with convience to come home any day you choose. Or 6 hours and only coming home Thanksgiving, Christmans, Easter, and Summer Break.
