If you want to become an anesthesiologist, this is your educational path:
@ 4 yrs of undergrad. Major doesn't matter so long as you take all the required courses med schools want.
4 yrs of med school
THEN, you go into a residency specializing in anesthesiology. At a teaching hospital. You're not the typical student lugging a backpack to class every day anymore (altho you still do plenty of studying).
I'm going to assume you're in high school. Just go to the most prestigious undergrad you can. Makes your transcript look more impressive to med schools. If you're already in college, try and go to the highest ranking med school you can (assuming you have a choice) to get a good shot at an anesthesiology residency (matching into residencies is competitive and there are only so many slots open around the country).
They are called medical schools- and the specialty is done in residency-
Everything Linkin said is correct.
Also, to be an anesthesiologist, you need a really STRONG chemistry and math background. You need excellent grades in undergrad so you can get into the best medical school you can. And you need excellent grades in med school so you can get into a good anesthesiology program.
