It is a sign of not being devoted to your ambitions in the working world. Maybe a sign of your own lack of ambition. You would be better off explaining marginal grades than to explain to a future employer why there is gaps in your resume as far as your schooling goes. And a lot of times students who take a year off for maybe selfish or lazy reasons end up never going back to school because being out of school changes the life they are living and find it more difficult to go back! Of course if there is a serious family problem or something like that then of course it would be a no brainer. Just don't drop from college to satisfy some need to take a break for no serious reason. Finish college. I wish I did. I wish I didn't take the break.
Yes, people take time off all the time, for all sorts of different reasons.
edit: hey who gave me a thumbsdown? :(
Never mind a gap year ...TRY some work
Of course you can... Schools want money they don't care when you graduated... you could spend 20 years completing your degree and they would be down with that.
Of course. But statistics show that people who put thier education on pause, often never return to finish their degree.
Yes, of course you can. Talk to an advisor or your course leader for more info

if you can you should...enjoy it have fun
Why would you want to. Just do college in a straight shot and get it done.
If you think you are going to travel in the gap year, save it for after college. You never know, some foreign company might discover you and offer you a job in your dream country while you are there.because you have the degree.
Yes, with a reasonable reason. Ask your college admin office.
Heck yes! I took off during my second year and will return after a fifteen year break this fall. (Only if I can get up early enough to make registration).
Good luck.
Suggest you ask the university, they might know more than EduQnA.com
gap year! gap life you mean lazy twat
you can but i would not suggest it as it might put you off finishing
http://howardgreen123.wordpress.com/2007... yes of course you can!
NO.
Taking a gap year will postpone your progress. You will eventually get MORE lazy and procrastinate, which OFTEN leads to college drop out syndrome.
I've seen two friends of mine do this. One ended up staying as a grocery clerk at Safeway because some of his co-workers said that school was a waste of time. The other got married to a low life scum, and now he's regretting that he ever married her. Now that their is kids in tow, this guy will never have the break to go to college because he is FULL of excuses for not going and one of it is because of money.
Don't make that mistake. Don't go there. I did it myself and it was so hard to go back. I wish I can turn back the clock and never skipped college for two years. TRUST ME! Don't do it or you'll be a procrastinator for the rest of your life.
it your choice and it up to u
Not a good idea unless there's a really good reason. You just spent two years working towards your degree now you want to take a break. Returning after a year off and going straight into your third year would be a really hard change of pace. The third year really counts so I'd put off any thoughts of gap years until after graduation. It's never too late to take time off but the middle of a degree course is a really bad time to do it.
maybe not
If you are in the UK then no not always. I don't know where King or Jean are but there is a limit to the time you have in which to complete a degree, and it's a lot less than 15 - 20 years. Also some UK courses do not allow gap years, but you would usually be made aware of this before you are offered a place. You need to check with your uni before you risk it.
