This can vary from uni to uni. At my uni:
70% and over = First class
60-69%= Upper Second
50-59%= Lower Second
40-49%=Third class.
This is only valid at the end of the three years, as the final mark is worked out from all the marks in your second and third year, though the two lowest scored are dropped from the calculations.
You will need to check with your own uni exactly how they work things out.

it works like below 40 is a fail, below 50 is a third, below 60 is a 2.2 and below 70 is a 2.1 and above 70 is a first.
2.1 and above are generally regarded in the highest esteem. and 2.2 is often excluded for things.
Each grade gets a number, so A1 = 1, A2 = 2 and so on. When you've finished a year you add up the corresponding numbers to the grades then divide by the number of modules, normally eight( for my uni at least).
This number then corresponds with the class grading system. Don't remember of the top of my head but it something like 1st = 3 or above, 2:1 = 3 - 6 (My method is correct but not too sure about the values)
