Dorm life is dorm life. If you drink, you can make it fun.
I wouldn't say the campus is beautiful. And it's not in the middle of SF. It's on the South end of SF and clear on the other side of downtown and where most of the fun stuff is. That said, it's right next to Stonestown mall.
Living by yourself is going to be expensive. Renting an in-law at a private house should run about $1500/month.
