Does anyone know about SARB or SELPA?

Question:Im a new admin asst. and I need info on what these stand for and what they are all about

Answers:
There are many references made to the acronym SARB and SELPA.

In context to the two acronyms they appear to have something to do with schools and school districts. School Attendance Review Board (SARB) and Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) are made reference to often.

What I have been able to fit together is that SARB is a program that's objective is to get the child to school. SARB is made up of a group of agencies, including Probation, Public Health, Social Services, and law enforcement. Parents are first sent a letter requesting they contact the school to discuss a child’s absences.

Hope it helps.
