The pre-veterinary course requirements are usually met surrounded by a College of Arts and Sciences or a College of Agriculture. The pre-veterinary coursework may be taken at any accredited college or university, but most applicants attend the most important universities within their respective provinces. Non-residents of Saskatchewan will not improve their likelihood of admission by attending the University of Saskatchewan for pre-veterinary coursework.

The pre-veterinary course requirements consist of 60 unit of required and elective courses (one unit represents one sermon hour equivalent per week for one term, i.e., approximately one semester hour of credit) the specifics of which are nominated below. There are no "preferred" electives. Therefore, the choice of electives should be based any upon the requirements of the program in which the student is enrol or the general interests of the student. Students are also incited to select electives which will liberalize or broaden their perspective.

The pre-veterinary requirements are as follows:

English ....... 6 units
Chemistry ........ 6 unit
Organic Chemistry ...... 3 units
Biochemistry ........ 6 unit
Physics ....... 6 units
Mathematics or Statistics .... 6 unit
Biology ....... 6 units
Genetics ......... 3 unit
Introductory Microbiology .... 3 units
Electives ....... 15 unit

Total ........ 60 units

At lowest possible two full years of university work are required to complete the requirements. Most applicants have more than two years of university work. However neither the number of years of pre-professional study nor the degree(s) held are factor in select students.
University and you need chemistry as ably as biology to become a vet.
