What if you don't have your previous employer's phone number?

Question:(for small part-time jobs) Do you have to list one on your resume?

Answers:
if you dont have the phone number here's what you do...

1- google it!
2-dial 411 if local
3-dial areacode and 555-1212

if you dont include the number on a job application, when it's that easy to get ahold of...your potential employer will wonder about your smarts.

NOW, if you purposefully dont want to put the previous employer's phone number on your application, that's a different story ;)
Your potential employer will see you as unprepared and won't even bother with an interview.

If you don't know it - find it. You can search on realpages.com or you can go to where you used to work (or have a friend stop by if you left on bad terms) and ask them for a business card.
Yes, best to locate the phone number. In this day and age it is not unusual for a company to go out of business and most potential employers understand if the company simply no longer exists. But if it does, you should take the time to locate the phone number. . .
