I have no idea what i want to do when i grow up?

Question:im 14 and im going into high school and i dont exactly know what i wanna do when i grow up. and i live in canada nd in our high schools we get credits and stuff in order to graduate. the thing is after u graduate.. i dont understand. how do you know which courses to pick in university when there are lots to choose from?

Answers:
I am 54 years old and a grandma and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, so don't feel bad. I live in Canada too, so I understand the education system here.

You have lots of time to figure things out. You don't need to know the answers today. By the time you get to university, you may have a better idea of which program you want to take, and the university will have guidelines for you to follow about which courses you will need to take for that program. Also, at university you will have an advisor who will help you pick the correct courses.

Even when you get to university, you don't need to decide right away. Many students change their majors (the main course they are studying), some even a couple of times. Also , people change their careers quite often these days, so often what people start out with, is not what they are doing 10 or 15 years later. The most important thing is that you work hard in high school and enjoy it while getting the best grades you can possibly get so that you will be able to do anything you want to do after high school.

Take care, and best of luck. Good to talk to another Canadian here.
You have a LONG time to think about it..
Dont stress over it

As for the college part there will be Advisors who help you choose your classes. Its not that hard. They are very generous and help you with your problems because they want to see you succeed
Well you are going to get reported because your question is not a question. I'm sorry if it gets deleted. Happens to me for no reason too..
Become a doctor or some thing that helps people..

Do not become a lawyer...70% of all the Lawyers in the world live in the U.S..

I am not a lawyer hater..there is just way to many..
I don't know what I want to do when I grow up either and I'm 29 years old. Just pick classes that sound interesting to you.
over the next couple of years your interests will grow and change and grow again..you may find that when you hit high school there are classes or electives that you enjoy that my guide you into a field that you can enjoy and make a living at.give it time
u gota think about what makes u happy n go from there.
if u like helping people try the medical field
if you can sell an igloo to a eskimo try sales
if you like to talk in front of groups try public relations
Luckily, when you go to high school there are alot of wise people that can help you. First and foremost you want to talk to your guidance counselors. When I was in school, they really helped me by finding what interested me. Even better - when you go to college there are counselors there for the specific purpose of telling you what classes to take for which fields. Don't worry, take it one day at a time. Stay in school, there are alot of people along the way that can help you. Good luck!!
This is a difficult question that everyone grapples with. Given your age, I have one main suggestion:

i) talk to each and every adult you know and ask them how they chose the job they have and the steps they took to get there. Take your time with this, take notes, and don't be shy about returning to them, especially the family members you know well, to seek additional information or clarify your thoughts. Take notes about these conversations. List pros and cons.

This is a project that can keep you busy for several months and even years. Keep building up the information you capture in a notebook, or on your computer. Eventually, you'll develop some ideas of your own about what seems appealing and realistic for you. Reach for the sky. Keep all your options open at school.

Don't worry yet about the exact university courses you'll take in 3 or 4 years. If you do what I suggest, the choices will become clearer for you. Take all the courses you can in high school. Don't drop out of math or science or history (or whatever) prematurely just because it may seem difficult at the moment.

Good luck!
I'm 19 and I still don't know exactly what I want to do after college. Right now I'm just taking general studies at school with a major in History.

I may not even do History later in life so I'm taking everything. Besides you still have a really long time to figure out what you want to do.

When you get to college you pick a major.. then the major has certain classes you can take. Don't worry about it.
Find a career counselor to test you to find out what you are good at and then fill out a questionnaire to see what interests you.
