Oxford / Cambridge med school students - what GCSE & A level greades did u get?

Question:I'm thinking of applying but i need to know whether my GCSE graded are enough. I am predicted AAA at A level maths, bio and chem.

Answers:
Sorry didn't do Medicine..chose Law and went to a top 5 British uni...
Had 4 A'Levels grade A in: Law, World Affairs, English Literature, and Biology

Good luck. I would have thought you would need 4 A'Levels Grade A alongside a damned good personal statement on your UCAS form [ a bit of work experience in a medical environment will help!] to get to Oxbridge.

I had an interview at Cambridge years ago and passed the tests but screwed up the interview..lol
i dont need a gcse in clever enough with out A levels everything is common sense
well i know that you need to be really bright and probebly do need basicly all A but they do like a personalit to. plus if you go state you have a higher chance. But even if you dont get in it is no big deal. alot of uni are just as good but not as famous. And enployers are more intrested in ur gcse and a level then wat uni u went to.
You should know you can only apply to one or the other. Not both.
Hi I'm at Oxford. but I'm not a medical student.

GCSE
8A* 3A

AS
3A

A-Level
4A

Advanced Extension Awards
1 Distinction
1 Merit

There's more to the process than just your school grades. There is also your performance in additional tests, in your case the BMAT, your performance at interview and in the case of medicine your suitability to be a practicing doctor.

Good luck
you need pretty good GCSEs, for oxford i'd say mainly Astars and As with perhaps a B. Apparently they're more leniant if you've been to a state school though. Then you need to get As in appropriate A levels, which you are doing, although if possible I'd suggest taking an As level as well (my sister did those exact subjects with an As in physics). then also you'll have to pass the BMAT test, you can get practice guides to have a go, and then probably an interview. It sounds hard, but you sound like a good student.
