For most MSc programmes you are required to have a university BSc degree in the same or in a closely related discipline. The exception to this rule is: Management of Technology and Science Education & Communication courses, to which all students holding a technology or science BSc degree may be admitted.
A programme selection committee will evaluate each individual application to decide whether the applicant can be admitted. The admission decision will be communicated to you in the admission letter.
Admission requirements
The general requirements for admission to a Master programme are:
A university BSc degree *. The main subject focused on during the BSc phase should match the MSc degree course you intend to pursue at TU Delft.
A BSc Grade Point Average (GPA) for the Bachelor study of at least 75% of the scale maximum.
For applicants whose mother tongue is a language other than English and/or who have not followed all their secondary and tertiary education in English:
A TOEFL ** (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of at least 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 80 (internet based TOEFL). Please note that we do not accept 'Institutional TOEFL' tests except for the one organised and certified by the Netherlands Education Support Office (NEC) in Jakarta, or
IELTS ** (academic version) overall Band score of at least 6.0.
Nationals of the People’s Republic of China please note: A ‘NESO-certificate’ must be sent to TU Delft as proof of validity of your qualifications. In order to obtain the NESO-certificate you will need to take the IELTS test. The Netherlands Education Support Office in Beijing does not accept the TOEFL for a NESO-certificate.
A clear and relevant essay in English (2,000 to 3,000 words). This essay should cover the following aspects:
Your motivation for the MSc-programme of your choice.
Why you wish to conduct this programme abroad and/or in the Netherlands in particular.
Why you are interested in TU Delft.
If there are optional specialisations in the Master programme of your choice: which specialisation(s) interest you most, and why?
Give three examples of Master thesis topics that interest you and explain your particular interest.
Write a brief summary (maximum 250 words) of the thesis work or the final assignment done for your Bachelor study and state the credits, grade, and full workload.
An extensive résumé (curriculum vitae) written in English.
The Master programmes in Management of Technology, Systems Engineering and Policy Analysis & Management require a GRE ** (Graduate Record Examination) with a General Test score of at least: 450 verbal, 550 or 3.5 analytical, 650 quantitative.
Selection for the Master programmes in Architecture, Design for Interaction and Integrated Product Design is partly based on a portfolio containing your Bachelor study projects, including the graduation project. Please note that the selection committee of Architecture only accepts hardcopy portfolios.

* Please note that if you are in the process of obtaining your Bachelor degree, you may also apply for admission to an MSc programme at TU Delft. TU Delft may conditionally admit you, based on your transcripts and detailed information about the curriculum, relevant research and the expected date of graduation. The conditional admission letter will include the deadline date for obtaining your degree.
** As the whole process of collecting information, registering for the tests and receiving the test results may take several months, we advise you to register for the IELTS or TOEFL and GRE tests between September and December.
