However, you're quite far from the average stats of an NYU law student. I wouldn't hold your breath. If you had to go there, I'd go for a masters somewhere to boost your GPA. Then, study for the LSAT again and aim for 173+. Theoretically, NYU is still possible, but highly unlikely.
You can still get into a top tier school. Just look a bit lower down than from the NYU level. Check the US News rankings.
You can get letters of rec from whoever you want. If it's coworkers, than that's what you have to do. It's more important about what they can tell the admissions people about you versus who they are.

3.46 gpa looks nice and is a little higher than mine, but NYU will laugh at you with that GPA. Maybe with a 3.7, they just might take you but I'd look at little higher than that too.
