Your text is your lifeline. Make sure to pay close attention to all deadlines, because this can sometimes become very tricky. I don’t know what your online class would call notes, but if the professor types some notes, then make sure that you read them and study. If you run into any issues, make sure that you don’t hesitate in brining it up in the virtual class room, in many cases another student will have the answer before the professor has an opportunity to address you. The final point is to have the discipline to follow through on your assignments. Good luck in your venture. Make sure you know when your assignments are due. The dates always snuck up on me and I missed quite a few assignment deadlines when I was taking online courses.
Good Luck I am about to start online classes myself, after having avoided them in favor of face-to-face.. which is no longer an option! What I have heard is that it is important to schedule time and motivate yourself to get your work done. It is tempting to procrastinate when you're going "at your own pace," so you need to be really motivated. A self-starter, as it were. If you're the type who lacks motivation, you may need to be in the classroom every week instead! Good luck!

I have taken a couple of online courses and let's face it, it is easy to do no work at all and get an A. In my English class I never read the selections, I just picked out the answers with the book in front of me, and in my government class I wrote all the papers but only used the textbook as reference. I never read the chapters. It is up to you to get an education in an online course. Good luck!
It depends on which on-line program you are under, but generally, the key to doing well on on-line courses is discipline. Make sure you do your readings and keep up with your homework...
