Should I join a fraternity for one year of college?

Question:I attended Illinois State University for a year so far and only have one left. I was wondering if I would be wasting my time and money joining a fraternity. I have friends there already, but they leave after the first semester and am worried about the final one. I am a transfer student, this is why I am not sure if I should join a frat, especially for only a year. Thanks for the help.

Answers:
Joining for 1 year would be pointless. You said you already have friends, I see no need in buying more in that case.
I guess it depends on what your objectives are and the type of fraternity you're looking at joining. If it's a social fraternity, I wouldn't waste my time (or my money). It's not worth the hassle of going the semester as a pledge. If it's a professional or honor fraternity, then I might in order to obtain some networking benefit or to be able to list the honor fraternity on my resume.
