my daughter got her glasses and she is very excited. How was your feeling?

Question:She was so excited yesterday and she make everybodies attention at the school (open house) yesterday. she was reading the board very loud from far of the class. she was telling everyone that everything is very clear and not fuzzy and it is like i want to touch everything.(she is 7 years old) She said to everyone i love my glasses alot and my doctor said i am adorable with it ,i can see everything now. she hides her glasses under her pillow so monster doesn't steel her glasses.and i feel wonderfull for her. i want to know when you guys first time got your glasses what was your reaction to it? I never wear a glasses so i don't know how is it for first time. I was 9 years old. I remember driving home and seeing birds way up in the sky that I never would have seen before. I couldn't believe that I had missed so many things that other people take for granted. i was okay. with me i have to wear mine all the time I was also 7 when I got my first pair of glasses and, judging from my reaction, you would have thought my little world had imploded. I was MISERABLE. I refused to wear them because I thought I would look ugly with them... As a result, my vision continued to deteriorate. Frankly, I don't think my hatred of glasses ever subsided -- I ended up getting contacts at 12 and refractive surgery at 25.

You should be very proud to have raised a child who is comfortable in her own skin because, no, not everyone's experience with glasses is a positive one. ummm, i know a friend who has contacts, and she was really escited to wear, them she got so many compliments, from people she hardly knew i was excited too! i was 7; almost 8 when i got my glasses...
i felt unique cuz i was the only one among my friends and in class with glasses...i had to (and still have) to wear them all the time.. recently i've started asking my mum how it feels not to wear glasses?!
i lost them once when i was 13. but i had another pair...i remember i used to have the rope to hang it around my neck; very useful esp since i was a "tom boy". Oh, I loved mine just like she did. In fact I remember doing the very same thing. I can't see past 3 feet in front of me, so hey, who wouldn't be excited. And when she gets older, she can get contacts in all different colors. I have pink, white, black, green and blue contacts (all seperate pairs) But yeah, I love my glasses, and sometimes I wear them just for old time sake. Besides, they make me look smart. at school age every one feel somewhat great of having glasses and even i tried of having glasses when i was studying 6 but the doctor told me that its not essential for me to have glasses at that time i felt very bad
