Yes, I used it to teach a preschooler to read before he went to kindergarten. It wasn't hard, just follow the directions. I seem to remember there being a "quick start" set of directions to get you going, then go back and read everything as you go along.
The little boy I taught did wonderful in school and was well ahead of most of his classmates in reading!

I have the book as well, but haven't started using it quite yet. My Pastor's wife gave me the book, and since then I have heard some good things about it. I am planning on using it to teach my 5 year old how to read, and if it goes well, I will probably use it when my 3 year old is ready to start reading as well.
