Hi, Christine (that is your name, right?) HSMomLovinIt gave you a great answer. I just have to respond to Mr. Z:
Obviously, you haven't heard about the current crisis in education. Too many PUBLIC schools are facing LOSS of accreditation because their students do so poorly. Did you not hear about the problems facing New Orleans' public school before Katrina? Are you unaware that the St. Louis schools are facing takeover by the state? "At the start of the new school year, all St. Louis Public high schools are considered either accredited OR IN THE PROCESS of becoming accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA)." From their FAQ page:
Is the Grace Academy a licensed or accredited school?
The Grace Academy homeschool is accredited through the National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance.
If you doubt their accredition, you can check with the NPSAA directly. Here is the page that gives you the info: http://www.npsag.com/database.htm#a.%20n...
B. Inquiring Parents, Students, Transfer Institutions & other interested Third Parties are invited to CONTACT NPSAA DIRECTLY (we prefer e-mail) for information which may be on file concerning any specific Private School (limit 3 at any given time), at no charge. NPSAA may be accessed by selection at the end of this Page or by returning to the NPSAA home page. Important Notice: The data base may not be opened anywhere within this web site. Opening The School Profile page will not open the data base.
As far as I'm aware, Grace is accredited, but feel free to check it out. The main reason for choosing an accredited school is to make sure that your credits will transfer if you go back to public school; if that's not in your future, it really doesn't make much of a difference. As long as your mom has your transcripts, colleges will accept your records, accredited or not.
Hope that helps!
I can certainly tell you this much: all your PUBLIC schools are accredited, and then you won't have to ask.
