To the people thinking this person is a troll, they simply posted a question under a different name http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind... (I hope that link works!)
As for the "virtual homeschooling", you call it whatever you like. Some people are ornery about it all and "homeschooling" is only if you do it such-and-such a way, but that's their opinion. If your kids are at home with you and doing their schooling there, regardless of how they do it, I say feel free to call it homeschooling.
It's great that your kids are doing so well!
Interesting-in all your questions, I find not one about homeschooling. Then again, you do have an awful lot of questions. Your points must be in the minus!
My kids were home schooled for a little while due to the poor school system we were living in. My 2 oldest kids were bored out of their minds because the teachers spent more time trying to calm down the kids in the class then teaching anything. My kids loved it. They got more one on one attention and learned a lot more than they would have in a public school. My kids were still socialized and have much better manners than many of the kids you will come across on the street. There is nothing wrong with home schooling. Many parents do it for various reasons. If it is done properly, I think it is better in the long run because kids learn more when a parent takes the time to teach them and help them on things they have problems with instead of a teacher giving them an "F" and moving on to the next thing.
I have no idea why people view homeschooling as socially retarded. I don't know or keep in touch with anymore from my highschool and I doubt anyone else there does.
Most moved away, got real jobs, and became job snobs, because the work force is just like high school, filled with cliques and those who became lawyers don't associate with those who stock shelves at K-Mart, because they're afraid they'll get hit up for free legal advise.
My stock answers have always been
Do you not have neighbors! Are there no parks, malls and other places where people hang out.
These people who think you are socially retard must be the same ones who use computer dating services to get dates, because they have no idea how to do a cold hit up in a store or at work. They must have no cahunnas, because it takes saying HI to a stranger, at school, in a mall, in park, to make friend.
If you fail to say hi, it doesn't matter if your in or out of school.
Most of the school shooters were social outcasts, kept out of the social scene by the cliques and it's usually the cliques they start shooting at.
And the world doesn't understand what low income is, either. Oprah has tried to show it. She sent people out to get entry level jobs at minimum wage and these people (who in REAL life make over $50,000 a year, but in this play act world now have to face social realities) had to report what they did with that money. Like buy a pound of balony and some bread to have food for a week with their first paycheck.
Reality today is that a dumpy apartment costs $500 a month and a minimum wage job pays about $650 a month in take home income.
After you pay your rent and electricity, you have enough for baloney and bread for the month.
What these critics aren't telling you is their 30 year old kids are still living at home, which is why those kids can afford nice cars and Ipods.
As the first responder said, where are your other questions about HS'ing? This is the first I see in this category. I went to look so I could get a history of what you asked, and what advice you were given in the past.
...hmm, smells of troll...
If it's your question that Glurpy found then it sounds like your children are still in public school but just do their work at home. You get free lunches and a computer so they can do their work.
You say your kids aren't "socially reatarded because I did not put hem in homeschool until they were in middle school!" So are you saying that children who have been homeschooled their whole lives are "socially retarded"?? My daughter has been homeschooled since 2nd grade and is very socially developed.
Every family struggles!
