saturday and sunday have have lines on each row like the other days, but they aren't numbered. what's the purpose behind the numbers? this is a silly question, but i am really curious as to why they're there.

I am guessing that they are their to help you keep the thing you have to do in order. I don't know why saturday and sunday don't have numbers, but ever planner is different, so if it bothers you, they have plenty of others to choose from.
The numbers are for the hours of the day starting at 8 am and ending at 5 PM, a normal work day for most people. You put your appointments on the lines next to the appropriate hour.
Your planner is assuming you don't work on the weekend, so it gives no hours, just lines to enter things you plan..you can add the time.
