Question:I have to write a three part analytical thesis on a topic. The topic I chose is skateboarding. I guess the three part analytical thesis is suppose to get me ready to write the expository essay, and then I have to write a 5 paragraph expository essay on the same thing. My question is, what is the difference between the analytical thesis and the expository essay? What are they? Does the three part analytical thesis mean three paragraphs analyzing skateboarding? I just don't want to have the exact same paragraphs for the analysis and the expository essay if you know what I'm saying. Could someone help me to differ the two and tell me how long an analytical thesis is?
Answers:
In an analytical paper you are breaking down an issue into its component parts and evaluating the issue or idea. An analytical thesis might explain what you are analyzing, the parts of your analysis, and the order in which you will present your analysis.
In an expository paper you are explaining something to your audience. The expostory thesis will include what you're going to tell your audience, the categories you are using to organize, and the order in which you will be presenting your categories.
