Why is history relevant to the present?

Question:I'm in European History AP (Sophmore) and I was asked to write a quick essay (about 1 page) about: Why is history relevent to the present. Any topics and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Answers:
“Because we are denied knowledge of our history, we are deprived of standing upon each other's shoulders and building upon each other's hard earned accomplishments. Instead we are condemned to repeat what others have done before us and thus we continually reinvent the wheel.”
Judy Chicago

If we cannot learn from history, we will repeat our predecessors' mistakes.

history influences the present...we learn from past experiences...

stock market crash, world wars, segregation, civil rights...all of these movements had a huge impact on where our nation is today...
European history is a lot better and a lot longer then u.s.history ,and more interesting . several major wars in the last eight hunderd to one thousand years and two in the last
century .think about it.
