personal response would be something similar to "your opinion" so basically, you should write a response.. of maybe how you felt about what happened, or if you agree or disagree and just basically your opinion about each chapter. understand? =]
"Personal Response" = What information did you gather from the chapter? How did it make you feel? What kind of theme, setting, or tone did you pick up from the characters or setting?
Several ways you can do this. It's probably a good idea to use several different ones.
1. Can you relate anything you read to your personal life? Any similarities, differences? REmind you of anything that happened in your life?
2. What kind of emotional response did you have to what you read? Angry, confused, upset.?
3. You can always make a prediction what you think is coming in the story.
4. Any questions you thought of as you read? Wonder about the characters, what they did or said?
Pretty much a BS assignment to show that you read the book. Are you in teacher prep?
Ideas can be:
1) If you were in the situation as one of the characters, what would you do?
2) Ditto #1, how would you feel about each of the other characters?
3) Have you had an experience like that?
4) Have you felt like that in a different setting?
5) Do you see that this situation is similar to our nation (the US in Iraq, or Canada in relation to Russia, or something?)
6) Did a certain word in the section turn you off, catch you by surprise, mystify you, confuse you?
7) Did the author do something to change the way you expected the story to go?
8) Do you very much disagree with a quote from the section? Why?
9) Do you definitely agree with a quote from the section? Why?
