A person who does change throughout the course of story and shows more than one side of themselves, would be known as a Dynamic Character or Round Character. Over the course of the story, they change and grow and we can see several different sides to them. They ARE NOT a "FLAT character."
Flat Characters, do NOT change over the course of the story and are never be the main character, they just wouldn't be that fun to read about! Flat characters maybe somewhat trivial to the plot, or they can be important (maybe as a villain.) But we don't see them as the main character, or our "hero" of the story.

ok the other answer is wrong. a character who DOESNT change is known as static and a dynamic character is one who changes.
