1) Find total number of Americans consumption peanut butter = 0.83 x 296,483,000 = 246,080,890
2) Find the total gallons that these 246,080,890 Americans eats per year = 246,080,890 x (3/7) = 105,463,238.6 gallons
3) Find the lifetime consumption = 105,463,238.6 x 77.6 = 8,183,947,315 gallons.
This is the total energy time consumption of all Americans. If ask for an average American, next just divide by 296,483,000 = 27.6034 gallons.

Now 83% = 83/100 = X / 9,860,177,486
So if you cross multiple you get
9,860,177,486 x 83 = 100x
OR 818,394,731,300 = 100x
Divide respectively side by 100 for value of x
8,183,947,313 = x
