Similes to describe the sea?

Question:not a stormy sea.. but the sea of a hot summer's day, with the water reflecting the sunlight.. i could really use a good simile here.. any suggestions would be appreciated! .. i'm kinda stuck for something that isn't totally cliched..

Answers:
And as I lay on the beach, the light relecting off the sea burned my eyes like I had accidentally turned on the stove while dancing on it. But I found I could not look away from the ocean, just like seeing a car hit a moose on a highway. And the saltiness stung my throat like a hoard of bees after putting their hive on my head.
wet? best answer right there
a hot summer ocean huh...hmmm...

the sea was as flaccid and glinting as a weather balloon falling on roswell..
The sea, like an azure temptress flowing beneath the white expanses of clouds

Sunlight glinting off the edge of the sea, as the water laps gently onto the beach

A vision of perfection, utopia, as the azure water flows gracefully, sunlight shimmering off its gilded edges
Hope that helps!
